Our engagements

Three engagements, each scoped to the question

We offer three defined engagements. Each is designed for a specific type of organisational question — no more than the situation requires, no less than it deserves.

How we work

A method that earns the right to recommend

Observe

We come to understand the situation before forming a view — attending meetings, reading existing documents, and speaking with the people closest to the work.

Analyse

We consider what we have seen carefully, weighing what the structural arrangement was designed to achieve against what the work now requires.

Write

Our recommendation is delivered as a written document — clear, specific, and designed to be used as a lasting reference by the firm.

Organisational Weave
REF-01 · 12 weeks · RM 2,950

Organisational Weave

A patient engagement for firms in which the organisational design has slowly drifted out of step with the work itself — reporting lines that no longer match the flow, roles whose original justification has faded, committees that meet from habit rather than purpose. Over twelve weeks we sit with the senior team, walk the work as it is currently done, and prepare a considered redesign of structure, role definition, and governance arrangement. The aim is not disruption but restoration of fit.

What is included

  • Redesign document covering structure, role distribution, and governance arrangement
  • Role-by-role notes for each position in the redesigned structure
  • Four working sessions with the senior team across implementation
  • Ongoing availability for questions during the twelve-week period

Process overview

  1. 1.Weeks 1–4: Observation — interviews, meeting attendance, documentation review
  2. 2.Weeks 5–8: Analysis and drafting of the redesign document
  3. 3.Weeks 9–12: Four working sessions to review, refine, and begin implementation

Role Definition Review

A focused engagement on a small number of senior roles — typically four to seven — whose definition has become unclear over time. We sit with each role-holder, with their direct manager, and with one or two of their daily collaborators, and prepare a written role definition for each: what the role exists to deliver, the decisions it owns, the decisions it informs, and the decisions it does not touch. Eight weeks; suited to firms experiencing quiet friction at a senior level without a clear cause.

What is included

  • Written role definition for each of the four to seven senior roles
  • Decision rights mapped: owned, informed, excluded — for each role
  • Summary note identifying any systemic patterns in the ambiguity found
  • Two review sessions with the commissioning senior leader

Well suited for

  • Firms where one or two senior roles are producing friction without an obvious structural cause
  • Organisations preparing for a leadership transition and wanting to clarify role expectations in advance
  • Firms that have grown rapidly and not updated role definitions to reflect the changed scope

Pattern Note
REF-03 · 2 weeks · RM 850

Pattern Note

A written response to a single organisational question — for instance, whether a particular function should be centralised or distributed across business units, or how to resolve a disputed boundary between two roles. Roughly fifteen hundred words, delivered within two weeks, with one follow-up call. Useful for managing directors weighing a particular question before committing to longer redesign work.

What is included

  • One initial scoping call (30 minutes) to understand the question precisely
  • Written response of approximately 1,500 words addressing the specific question
  • Delivered within two weeks of the scoping call
  • One follow-up call to discuss the response and any questions it raises

A note on scope: A Pattern Note addresses one question. It does not include structural redesign, role definition work, or implementation support. It is a considered written view on a specific question — no more and no less.

What applies to every engagement

Confidentiality agreement

All engagements are covered by a formal confidentiality agreement before work begins.

Fee agreed upfront

The fee for each engagement is fixed and stated before any work begins. No revisions unless a new engagement is agreed.

Senior consultant throughout

The consultants who engage at the start remain responsible for the work through to delivery. No delegation mid-engagement.

Written deliverables only

Our outputs are documents, not presentations. Written to be used and returned to, not presented once and filed.

Defined end date

Every engagement has a clear completion date. There are no open-ended retainers attached to the work unless a new engagement is separately agreed.

Independence of view

We have no commercial interest in a particular recommendation. Our view is formed by observation, not by a preferred model or a follow-on sale.
